Video Cataloguing and Browsing
نویسندگان
چکیده
Videos contain rich information. Until recently, information within a video had been largely left under-utilized, with fast forward/rewind as the most popular method of accessing video content. This is no longer sufficient however, as more and more users demanded the flexibility and ability to access video content selectively. Unlike textual information however, video bits do not convey same level of meaning as text do. Therefore, we have to use metadata to describe the structured information within videos. One project, ViMeta-Vu or Video Metadata Viewer, was undertaken to provide users with such content-based video access. It represented video using fixed three-level hierarchical structure. Users can access and retrieve specific video information through browsing of the metadata This paper will discuss various ways of improving the existing system. It proposes a more generic hierarchical structure using XML to represent the metadata, which will facilitate additional query methods. This paper also proposes additional query methods utilizing visual features of key frames in the video. The queries implemented include structural browsing, query by feature, query by selection and query by keyword.

Video Abstraction in H.264/AVC Compressed Domain
Video abstraction allows searching, browsing and evaluating videos only by accessing the useful contents. Most of the studies are using pixel domain, which requires the decoding process and needs more time and process consuming than compressed domain video abstraction. In this paper, we present a new video abstraction method in H.264/AVC compressed domain, AVAIF. The method is based on the norm...

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...
متن کاملCompressed Domain Scene Change Detection Based on Transform Units Distribution in High Efficiency Video Coding Standard
Scene change detection plays an important role in a number of video applications, including video indexing, searching, browsing, semantic features extraction, and, in general, pre-processing and post-processing operations. Several scene change detection methods have been proposed in different coding standards. Most of them use fixed thresholds for the similarity metrics to determine if there wa...
متن کاملVisual Interfaces for Semantic Information Retrieval and Browsing
Today, an unimaginable amount of human knowledge is available in digital libraries, repositories, on the Internet, etc. Computers have become the entry point to a worldwide network of information, services, and other people. However, the Web is extremely unstructured and heterogeneous, making the efficient and effective discovery of relevant data, services, or expertise rather difficult. In sum...
متن کاملImproving the browsing and cataloguing experience of the District Six museum archives
The LogosFlow system used by the District Six museum to capture and browse artefact collections is neither userfriendly nor intuitive. It was decided that an entirely new system be built and a user-centered design approach be taken to achieve this. Meetings were held with the collections staff, problems with the previous system identified and possible solutions brainstormed. Humancomputer inter...
